As a result, anything you say may be pleasant to one person and irritating to another.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 With this important reality in mind, you can use two main strategies to persuade a group:<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>\u25fd\ufe0f 1. Speak ambiguously<\/h2>\n<p>In this strategy, you must act like politicians\u2014talk a lot without actually saying anything specific.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 Essentially, you express your message in a way that allows each member of the group to interpret it according to their own preferences.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 For example, imagine a politician saying during a campaign: <em>\u201cOur social security system needs fundamental reform. It\u2019s time to take major steps toward improving people\u2019s well\u2011being.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 This statement has no concrete meaning on its own. It\u2019s unclear what kind of reforms are intended or in which direction. Will employees pay more insurance contributions? Or will their contribution rates decrease?<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 As a result, each listener imagines the type of reform they personally prefer.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>\u25fd\ufe0f 2. Show up as a human being<\/h2>\n<p>People want to see you as a human\u2014someone like themselves\u2014not just a manager, salesperson, or authority figure.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 They want to know that you, like all humans, sometimes feel lonely, sometimes happy, and sometimes sad.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 In short, they want to see a real person in front of them, not a manufactured persona. So to influence a group, be your authentic self and openly share your feelings, experiences, knowledge, and beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 When you show up as an ordinary human being, your audience sees you as honest and trustworthy.
